Offers Sliding Scale Therapy

Maybe you're seeking couples therapy because you’re finding yourselves in a cycle of disagreement that feels impossible to get out of. Maybe you’re arguing a lot. And maybe when you argue it feels like you speak different languages. Or maybe there’s been a breach of trust and you’ve just not been able to work through it on your own.

Life transitions can also bring couples to therapy: career changes, shifts in financial circumstances, moves, childrearing, difficult in-law relationships, losses, births and deaths—any of these may be challenging your relationship right now. The good news is that such challenges often indicate you’re on the edge of some new stage in your relationship, one that will ultimately land you in a place of greater depth and improved intimacy.

My work with couples is informed by three main approaches:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a highly successful, research-based therapeutic model that strengthens relationships by improving connection and understanding. EFT (1) focuses on how we relate in intimate partnership and (2) helps build new ways of seeing and relating to one another.
  • Non-Violent Communication (NVC) skills to help you learn to “fight fairly” and minimize conflict.
  • Mindfulness, Compassion and Forgiveness practices to help you see yourself, your partner, and your relationship more clearly and compassionately.

I also offer support, practical interventions and resources for conflicts or tensions showing up anywhere within your family system. I specialize with:

  • Divorced or divorcing parents who want to develop healthy co-parenting “rules of the road.”
  • Families where attention-challenges (ADHD/ADD) are showing up for children and/or parents.
